I am not very good with describing physical confrontation (not that I have really tried), so you'll have to forgive me if it's not very descriptive. I also apologize if how I wrote out 30 Euros is wrong. I am American, so I am not good with foreign currency outside of England.
As I left the house, I had a moment's hesitation about leaving Liv alone with Sean. She was apprehensive of all of my friends at first, but Sean still gave her the willies. She assured me she would be alright, so I left the house. But I called her about two houses down the row, to make sure she was really alright with my leaving her alone. She told me to stop worrying, and that she loved me.
As I was walking along to the market, I passed by Mrs. McCullough's floral shop. Because I had just come back from France after four months, I decided to buy Olivia some flowers. That, and because I felt bad about leaving her with Sean. I saw dozens of roses that I knew Olivia would love, but the right bouquet just didn't stand out for me. I knew I was taking too long, and that I needed to get to the market before Olivia really started panicking about being left alone with Sean too long. Finally, the right bouquet came along.
As I went to pay Mrs. McCullough, I realized I had left my wallet at home. It was by sheer dumb luck I had 30€ in my pocket. I paid for my flowers, and walked back home to get my wallet. As I walked up the street, I heard this god-awful screaming. It sounded like something out of The Hills Have Eyes, so I kept walking. It was when I reached our house, I realized something might be wrong.
Sampson, our faithful German Shepherd was running around the front yard like crazy, barking like something was wrong. But he gets excited when there are friends over, so this behavior didn't faze me. I walked into the house, calling Sean and Olivia. Neither one poked their heads from another room or answered me back. I started getting frantic, but not overly so until I saw Olivia's shoes on the floor. She never goes barefoot in the house when she knows there's guests coming over, and they were in two different sections of the living room, near the stairs. I heard this loud shuffling upstairs, and muffled screams. I grabbed a golf club out of the bag sitting in the garage, and ran upstairs.
I quietly walked towards the bedroom, where the screams were getting louder. I managed to see Olivia laying on our bed, covered in blood, and tied to the bed. She screamed, and then there was Sean, running at me with a knife. We struggled, each throwing the other against the wall, and trying to overtake the other. Sean kicked the back of my leg, causing me to fall to the floor. I struggled to keep my golf club in my hand, as he wrestled me to release it. When I managed to get the upper hand, I slammed his knife-wielding wrist against the floor, but his grip was tight. His eyes shone crazily, and he was a man possessed. Sean knocked the club out of my hand, while I tried unsuccessfully to grab the knife from its holster on his waist.
We tumbled around the floor, and I was trying my damnedest not to get stabbed as we fought for control. Olivia had broken free of one of her bonds, and had removed the gag from her mouth. She was screaming for me to overtake Sean. I got a few seconds reprieve by butting Sean in the head. I slid over to the closet, and pulled out the shillelagh Olivia made me keep in the closet, because it freaked her out. I took one swing at Sean, and connected with his head, knocking him out and onto the floor. I found some extra rope he had on the floor, and I tied his arms and legs. I then approached Olivia.
"Call the police before you untie me," she voiced. I sat on the edge of the bed, and called the police. After hanging up with the police, I untied Olivia and took her into my arms. She'd been so calm through the whole fight, and then began sobbing when I stroked her head.
"I am so sorry, baby. I knew you didn't like him, and I left you here with him. I didn't know he would do this. I should have taken you with me to the market. I just thank God I forgot my wallet here. It's all over baby, it's all over."
The police and ambulance arrived, and Sean was arrested. As I followed the EMTs and Olivia outside, our friends Emmett and Aidan arrived at the house. They asked what happened, and after I told them, it took two cops to hold them back from killing Sean right there. Emmett drove me to the hospital, and waited with me while Olivia was in surgery.
After the surgery, Olivia had pretty much forgotten the events. Until the medication had worn off, and then she remembered everything, which had the police asking her questions about what had happened. I sat there in shock, hearing Sean's motives for injuring Olivia like he had. He was punishing me for something I did when I was twenty-four years old. And looking at Olivia, I wish I had continued hitting Sean with that shillelagh.
After the police left, my only concern was Olivia and her getting better, both mentally and physically.
Now we're just waiting on a court date.
