Unrequited

I wrote this May 20, 2006. I came up with it while I was at work, and noticed this guy I worked with blatantly staring at me while he was setting up a candle display at the front of the store. At the time, he shamelessly flirted with me, and I didn't know he had a girlfriend. Otherwise, I would have said something that would make him think twice about doing it. I want it documented that I had no interest in him whatsoever.

He gazes at her from afar,
But she doesn't see him.
His eyes watch her every move,
Her smile, the way she tosses
the hair back from her face.

She glances over at him,
And sends him a warm smile.
He pretends to do something else.
She lightly laughs, and goes on.

Does he have the guts,
To take her out?
Is he willing to risk it all
For her?

Only time will tell.

Until then,
He'll continue to say kind words
And speak words he doesn't speak to others,
Until she realizes she needs him too.

Romantic? Maybe.
